Yard Tour: Warehouses
Most automotive recyclers keep many of their parts on outside racks, subject to the elements. At Viking, every part we remove from a vehicle is stored inside one of our 4 separate warehouses. That way your part is kept clean & easily accessible. Wind, rain, snow and hail are not a factor for us. We still keep vehicle “hulks” in our outside storage area, with over 2,500 mostly dismantled vehicles standing at any given time. We keep these vehicles for approximately 1 year for those large parts like quarter panels, and for slower moving, less requested parts. |

The warehouse directly off of the sales area holds smaller auto parts:
- tail lamps
- distributors
- wheels
- radios
It is mezzanined, meaning it is divided into an upstairs and downstairs by steel mesh flooring. This doubles our floor space, and allows all parts to be reached by hand, eliminating the need for forklifts.
The warehouse directly off of shipping and receiving is 200' long, with racks designed for body parts. Here are where most of our bumpers, hoods, tail gates, fenders and other body parts are kept safely separated from each other, again on two levels. This warehouse also stores our large inventory of new and used glass, including windshields, back glasses, & door glasses.
Attached to that warehouse is our largest warehouse, the engine/transmission/rear axle warehouse. We store hundreds of run-checked, compression checked & cleaned engines, and even more transmissions. We build our own pallets, especially designed to protect the engine and support it for transport or shipment. One section of the warehouse is dedicated to front and rear axle assemblies. This is the only warehouse where forklifts are required.
Directly across from our office area is a warehouse that houses mainly our very extensive inventory of new aftermarket parts. This includes over 700 new radiators, and thousands of new fenders, hoods, bumpers, grills and more. This warehouse also includes some larger recycled parts, such as steering columns and header panels.
